Our base camp was the venue for Emerging Valley, the first international conference connecting innovation in the Aix-Marseille Provence Metro Area with that of Africa and the emerging markets! This first ever summit was launched on December 4 last in the presence of Sofiane Ammar (director of thecamp's Accelerator & Village by CAAP) and 250 guests at the headquarters of the French employers' federation MEDEF.
In total, more than 400 people took part in the event on December 5 and 6 at the Villa Valmer and thecamp. Two inspiring days under the banner of sharing, with 20 start-ups from 13 African and Asian countries and VIPs such as Omar Cissé (founder of the Senegalese firm INTOUCH, which carried out the largest successful private fundraising campaign ever recorded in French-speaking Africa) and Anass El Hilal (co-founder of MedTrucks, a Moroccan start-up that works to reduce medical wastelands by setting up health caravans).
Because tomorrow's challenges are universal, we need to foster collaboration and pool our skills to increase our impact. See you next year, with more than 60 start-ups, incubators and investors at the second edition of Emerging Valley!
