Each year, on average 8.3 million tonnes of plastic is washed into the oceans. That's the equivalent of one garbage truck every minute. It's a fact that is even more spine-chilling when one considers that the time it takes for plastic to degrade in sea water varies from a few years to several centuries. To reduce this pollution, thecamp has set up the Plastic & Ocean Platform (POP to its friends) collective, by bringing together the most committed stakeholders from around the world.
